Getting Prepared for I Love My Park Day

This Saturday is I Love My Park Day and I am starting to think ahead about what I need to expect. I am expecting to get dirty and break a sweat and get some real work done, but I am also expecting to meet some wonderful new people.

I have never been to Minnewaska State Park, but I have heard of it. What I have heard from everyone is just how beautiful it is there. While we are there, we will be cleaning up some trails and other outdoorsy stuff.

I love working outdoors and don't get to do it that often, so this is a treat for me. Being in the outdoors and enjoying what nature has for us is such a joy for me...except when it is raining....then the outdoors are best enjoyed from the inside.

As of right now, my team consists of my cousin and I. We had a third member, but it turns out that she will be unable to attend, but she will be with us in spirit.

I encourage any of you out there reading this to go to a park this weekend and enjoy. Not all parks participate in I Love My Park day, just the state parks, so you may not see any projects going on, but that's alright. Enjoy the park, anyway. Maybe pick up a few pieces of litter you find on the ground or maybe take a child with you and teach them about different trees and plants.

The next time I log one, I should have some pictures of our day at Minneaska.
