Good day to all of you out there who have taken the time to visit my blog. This is the start of what I know is going to be an all-encompassing adventure for me that I am going to share with you, so keep coming back to see where my journey takes us.
I began my life as an AmeriCorps member on January 19, 2016. I am working with Ulster County Habitat for Humanity in New York State to develop an official Family Services program. I have had a wonderful time so far and have had my eyes really opened to how poverty housing is affecting people in this area, let alone around the world.
My favorite part of being here, besides knowing that I am helping others, is working with the staff and volunteers that are here. I have never in my twenty years of various jobs encountered a workplace where every...single...person was glad to be at work and happy throughout the day. I have come to realize that the reason is that people don't have to be here, they want to be here and that can make all the difference in the world when it comes to job satisfaction.
In my next post, I will talk some about what Habitat does here and worldwide and also share some statistics concerning poverty housing.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll keep coming back!
